365 Days In Nature - December 31

Here we are, December 31 - the last day of 2013 and the last photo in this year's 365 Days In Nature project. Tomorrow I start a new 365 project ... 365 Days In A Life in which I will photograph those things that cross my path during the year.

We end this year as we began it ... with a shot of the little bush which we have seen dormant last winter, then come to life and bloom in the spring, continue through summer, prepare for the cold weather in the fall and finally return to its dormant state now that it is winter again.

Happy New Year everyone!

365 Days In Nature - May 30

And our little azalea bush has had its moment of glory for this year
and will now put all of its efforts into preparing for next year.

365 Days In Nature - May 17

We started this year - and this 365 Days In Nature project - with this shot of the bush in my front yard. Remember it?

Today it is in full bloom - a state it will only be in for a very brief amount of time. (Sadly, just a few years ago it was a much larger and fuller bush but some form of virus hit it and most of it died. A few days ago we saw another section that died this spring. Hopefully that will be the last that does.

365 Days In Nature - May 13

It is time to check into the small bush that we have been following this year. Not too much change, but if you will look closely, you will see one red bud ... showing signs of things to come ... hopefully.

I say "hopefully" because looking a bit closer, we see this ...

Has our bush become another victim of Superstorm Sandy? Time will tell.

365 Days In Nature - March 1

It's March 1 and with winter still here for another 3 weeks, it is time to check in on the little bush in my front yard. After a day and a night of rain, the sun was out, but the bush continues in its dormant state for now - looking just as it did in September - at the end of the summer. We will keep checking back and watch to see what happens as spring takes the stage at the end of the month. Remember, March comes in like a lion but goes out like a lamb ... hopefully!

365 Days In Nature - January 1

We are going to check in on this little bush weekly (when I am home) throughout the year.
